If you wish to carry on any business in Singapore, you will have to register a business entity.  In Singapore, there are many different types of business entities and these different forms of business organisations are sole proprietorship, partnership, company, limited liability partnership and limited partnership.  The Business Registration Act (Chapter 32 of the 2004 Revised Edition) has been repealed (i.e. meaning the Business Registration Act has been rescinded, revoked, cancelled or replaced).  The New Act that applies to business in Singapore is the Business Names Registration Act 2014 (no.29 of 2014). For Sole Proprietorship (see Business Names Registration Act) , Partnership (see Partnership Act & Business Names Registration Act)), Company (see Companies Act), Limited Liability Partnership (see Limited Liability Partnership Act) and Limited Partnership (see Limited Partnership Act). Registering your business is one legal requirement, the other requirement is the licence from the relevant regulatory bodies.  Without the relevant licence you cannot operate the business.
